PM directs Election Commission to expedite poll preparations

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal on Thursday directed the Election Commission to expedite preparations for the May 14 local level elections.

Summoning all five commissioners of the Commission including Chief Commissioner Ayodhi Prasad Yadav at his Baluwatar residence today, the Prime Minister assured that the polls would be held peacefully on the scheduled date and the government was working to create a conducive political environment for the same.

He was of the view that people were already excited for the polls and all authorities and stakeholders should be united to make the elections a success.

During the meeting, the commissioners had briefed the PM about preparations the Commission had been carrying for the polls.

The commissioners told the PM that they were ready to hold the polls, according to a statement issued by the President's Office.
