PM Oli seeks Nepali Congress' support in Reconstruction Authority

KATHMANDU: Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli has requested the major opposition Nepali Congress to cooperate with the government on the formation of Reconstruction Authority.

During a meeting of the major three political parties -- NC, CPN-UML and UCPN-Maoist -- at the Prime Minister's official residence in Baluwatar on Sunday evening, Prime Minister Oli urged the Nepali Congress to help the government pass the bill on Reconstruction Authority in view of the pressing need of reconstruction activities. The bill has already been tabled at the Parliament.

The Nepali Congress leaders said they would respond to the matter after holding discussion within the party.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister and CPN-UML party Chairman Oli, UML Vice-Chairman and Deputy Prime Minister Bhim Rawal, Minister Agni Kharel, UCPN-Maoist Chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal, senior leader of Nepali Congress Sher Bahadur Deuba, Vice-President Ram Chandra Poudel, and General Secretary Krishna Prasad Sitaula, among others.
