56yo man jumps off into Devi's Fall in Pokhara to kill self

POKHARA: A 56-year-old man committed suicide by jumping off into the Patale Chhango, also known as Devi's Fall, in Pokhara on Saturday, police said.

The deceased has been identified as Jujukaji Shakya of Banepa, Kavre.

Shakya, also the vice chairman of Reiyukai Eiko Masunaga Eye Hospital, Banepa, Kavre, was the operator of Shakya Watch Shop in Banepa.

He is survived by his wife and four daughters. All of them are in the US.

Following the incident, a joint police team deployed from the Regional Police Office, Pokhara and Baidam-based Ward Police Post reached the incident site and retrieved the body from the waterfall.

Police said that they had recovered Rs 16,560 in cash and two entry tickets to the Devi's Fall from Shakya's body.

The body has been kept at the Western Regional Hospital.

According to DSP Gujusiddhi Bajracharya of the District Police Office, Kaski, Shakya's family would reach Pokhara on Wednesday to collect the body.
