Pokhara metropolis imposes parking ban on busy city streets

POKHARA: Pokhara Metropolitan City on Monday has decided to impose a parking ban in an effort to manage traffic along the major areas of the city.

A meeting of Traffic Management Committee led by city Mayor Man Bahadur GC decided to introduce rules that would require institutions and businesses to add parking facilities while directing them not to involve in haphazard parking which jams the busy city streets.

Likewise, the metropolis has issued circulars in line with new rules which direct organisations to rent parking spaces.

Moreover, the city authorities have also decided to remove temporary structures and equipment kept by garages along the Prithvi Chowk to Taal Chowk road section, citing difficulties in traffic management.

According to Committee’s Focal Person, Surendra Poudel, a fine of Rs 5,000 will be slapped to those who deny removing their assets kept along the road section within seven days.
