Police HQ forwards Bista and Bhatta’s clarification to MoHA

KATHMANDU: Written clarification from police officers suspended for alleged negligence in the investigation of rape and murder of Nirmala Panta (13) of Kanchanpur has been submitted to the Ministry of Home Affairs on Wednesday.

Superintendent of Police Dilli Raj Bista and Police Inspector Jagdish Bhatta’s clarification was submitted by the Nepal Police Headquarters, according to Ministry Spokesperson Ram Krishna Subedi.

The clarification will be studied and necessary action will be taken as per the law, he said.

The two police officers were suspended following a probe into Panta’s rape and murder case by two investigation committees as they were accused of mishandling evidence and compromising the investigation following the incident.
