BIRGUNJ: An exchange of fire was reported between police and alleged marijuana smugglers in Shankarsaraiya VDC of Parsa district on Sunday night.

According to police, two rounds of bullets were fired from their side in the clash near local Bhulahi Khola.

However, the smugglers were the one who had opened the fire first, according to police.

No one was hurt in the incident.

Police had reached the incident site after receiving a tip-off about their activities, police informed.

The smugglers were heading towards India with the illegal drug.

DSP Hobindra Bogati said that the smugglers fled the scene leaving a bicycle and 100 kg marijuana at the incident site.

Further investigation is underway, police said.
