Police seize 70 quintal black pepper in Dhading

DHADING: Police on Thursday confiscated 70 quintal of black pepper from a container-truck bearing Indian registration plate in Majhimtar in Dhading.

Police personnel who acted on a tip-off stopped the truck (DL 1 GC 5275) en route to Chitwan from Kathmandu and recovered 280 sacks of black pepper after setting up a security-check point along the Prithvi Highway.

According to Police, truck-driver Mohamadd Anjar (55) of New Delhi, India was held upon seizure of black pepper packed in 25-kg-sacks and hidden inside a false bottom in the container. Anjar was arrested after he failed to produce custom documents and bills.

Police have taken Anjar and seized quantity of black pepper to Revenue Investigation Department in Lalitpur for necessary investigation and actions, informed Area Police Office, Gajuri.
