Police shoot at, injure Kailali man for defying curfew

DHANGADHI: A person sustained injuries while police opened fire at him for defying curfew in Durgauli of Kailali on Thursday.

The victim has been identified as Jagat Devkota of Sugarkhal VDC of the district.

While police tried to stop the motorcycle he was riding on for interrogation during a curfew time, Devkota had tried to flee the scene.

Police subsequently open the fire targeting him.

It has been learnt that the bullet has hit his knee.

He is undergoing treatment at the Tikapur Hospital.

The District Administration Office has been continuously imposing curfew in Tikapur Municipality and adjacent VDCs of the district including Durgauli after violent clashes erupted in Tiakapur between protesters and police on Monday. At least seven police personnel and a child were killed in the clashes.
