Preparations to fix gov’s office and residence begin in Dhangadi while Dipayal swamps in protest

DHANGADI: With the appointment of governor and declaration of temporary province capital necessary preparations pertaining to governor’s office, residence and provincial assembly office have begun in Dhangadi.

“In line with the governor’s oath taking ceremony, we have begun preparations regarding governor’s office and residence,” Regional Administrator Laxmi Ram Poudel said, “We will fix the location of the office and residence by Friday.”

The team including Poudel has started observation and inspection of the buildings and government offices based on the feasibility analysis presented by Urban Development and Building Construction Division Office.

Dipayal comes to a halt; PM's effigy burned

Meanwhile, agitated locals of Dipayal have brought down public service, industries, transportation activities to complete halt in Dipayal and Silgadhi protesting government’s decision to set up temporary province capital in Dhangadi instead of Dipayal.

The protestors burned down traffic Police checkpost in Dipalyal along with an effigy of Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

According to Protest Coordination Committee’s Coordinator Narendra Khadka, the demonstrations will continue until the decision is reversed.
