‘Preserve Nepali language, culture for sake of identity’

New York, September 24

Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has urged the Nepali Diaspora to preserve Nepali language and culture while noting that failure to do so would lead to identity loss.

Addressing a reception organised by the Consulate General of Nepal in New York yesterday, PM Deuba said the identity of Nepali citizens living abroad would be maintained if they continued protecting the language and culture on their own.

He also stressed the need to utilise knowledge, skills and resources of the Nepali Diaspora.

Lauding the contributions of Nepali citizens abroad to the country’s national economy through remittance, PM Deuba said, “There are vast potentials of investment and development in Nepal. Confidently invest in the country. The government is ready to secure and protect your investments”.

Similarly, Deputy Prime Minster and Krishna Bahadur Mahara highlighted Nepal’s unique and successful peace process and the need to unite for economic prosperity.
