Press Chautari Nepal announces winners of various awards

KATHMANDU: The Press Chautari Nepal, an organisation of journalists has announced the recipients of five various awards which it presents every year on May 3 on the International Press Freedom Day.

Chautari general secretary Rajesh Rai said the Hridaya Chandra Singh Journalism Award will be conferred on Nirmala Sharma and the Agnisikha Journalism Award on Pramod Dahal.

Likewise, the Birendra Kumar Saha Active Youth Journalism Award would be jointly presented to Raju Adhikari (Jhapa), Basanta Pratap Singh (Bajhang) and Subhadra Pyakurel (Sunsari), and the Dekendra Thapa Journalism Award would be jointly presented to Sushil Aryal (Gorkha), Deepak Rijal (Dhading) and Meena Budhathoki (Salyan).

According to Rai, the Padma Laxmi – Sabitri Basnet Journalism Award instituted only from this year would be conferred on Daman Rai (Khotang), Yunik Bifa Ghising (Ramechhap) and Rabina Bohara (Baglung).

The Chautari has also declared one district each from all the seven provinces as the outstanding district. The districts declared 'outstanding' are Panchthar in Province-1, Parsa in Province-2, Makawanpur in Province-3, Baglung in Province-4, Banke in Province-5, Surkhet in Province-6 and Bajura in Province-7.
