PM misleading public about statute amendment: UML

Kathmandu, April 10

The CPN-UML alleged that the prime minister had misled the public when he said that an understanding was reached with the UML on the constitution amendment bill.

UML Secretariat  Secretary Krishna Gopal Shrestha said that the government has neither discussed with his party nor given any information regarding the statute amendment bill.

A Standing Committee meeting of the UML held here today  also condemned the remarks of Nepali Congress leaders against the UML. “We did not expect such remarks from a responsible party against the UML,” said Shrestha. NC President Sher Bahadur Deuba had criticised the UML for its stance on the constitution amendment bill in the assembly organised in Dhangadi by the party.

Meanwhile, the meeting has decided that party candidates vying for mayors and deputy mayors of metropolitan and submetropolis would need endorsement  from party Chair KP Sharma Oli. Likewise, other party candidates would need  endorsements from  the party’s provincial heads, according to Shrestha.
