PM briefs president about election results

Kathmandu, December 14

President Bidhya Devi Bhandari today met with Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba.

During the meeting held at the Office of the President, PM Deuba briefed the head of state about the results of provincial and the parliamentary first-past-the-post elections and continuation of vote counting of proportional representation elections.

President Bhandari thanked PM Deuba, the Election Commission, political parties, civil servants, the Nepali Army, Nepal Police Armed Police force, National Investigation Department and other stakeholders for successfully holding elections, according to a press statement issued by Kul Prasad Chudal, spokesperson at the President’s Office.

President Bhandari hoped that the recent elections would help maintain political stability and give momentum to social and economic changes in the country.

She also stressed the need of cooperation between political parties and creative help and support of the general public to fulfill people’s aspirations.
