Probe into BPKIHS irregularities

The government has initiated an enquiry into the alleged irregularities taking place at the BP Koirala Institute of Health and Sciences of Sunsari, Dharan.

There were complaints that massive irregularities were taking place in the process of  developing new physical infrastructure, procuring vehicles and medical equipment.

Following the complaints, a high-level enquiry committee was set up by the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers earlier under its Secretary Kedar Bahadur Adhikari.

According to a committee member bio-medical engineer Mukund Khatiwada at the Ministry of Health, they have started their probe from today by seizing related documents.

“We’ve collected all documents that are doubtful from the past three years regarding construction of physical infrastructure, purchase of vehicles and medical equipment,” said Khatiwada.

He further said the committee will recommend the government for action against those guilty once the investigation

is over.

Meanwhile, the committee interrogated BPKIHS Vice-chancellor Raj Kumar Rauniyar, Assistant registrar Amit Shreevastav, and other office-bearers and staff today.

The committee includes MoH joint-secretary Taranath Poudel, under-secretary Bhawanath Khatiwada and Transportation Ministry joint-secretary Pramiladevi Bajracharya.
