Rain-triggered Landslide puts Nishanedanda in peril

A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has put Nishanedanda along the Koshi Highway of Dharan Sub-metropolitan City-4 at high risk.

Erosion caused by the swollen Nishane khola and landslide have put the human settlement in jeopardy. The landslide that started since Tuesday night has not stopped. The erosion caused by the khola has added to the woes of locals. The landslide has unleashed terror among locals at Nishanedanda.

The landslide that occurred last night damaged Bhakta Bahadur Rai’s hotel and swept away six of his cottages. Rai complained that the landslide had damaged property worth Rs 2.5 million. The landslide has also eroded three kattha land of the locals.

Similarly, the landslide has also put the houses of locals Arjun Rai, Uttaramaya Rai, Santosh Rai, and Devika Rai at risk. The families of these locals have vacated their houses and shifted to safe places following the disaster.
