Rainfall likely to continue for next few days across Nepal

KATHMANDU: Water vapour-rich winds rising from the Bay of Bengal and local winds are likely to cause rainfall in various parts of Nepal for next few days, according to the Meteorological Forecasting Division (MFD).

The MFD said the winds have resulted into the weather change across various parts of the country today and some parts of eastern, western and mid western regions received rainfalls.

The weather pattern will remain the same and various parts of the country will continue to receive rainfalls for the next few days, it added.

Meanwhile, meteorologist Barun Paudel said that some problems in the weather pattern in pre-monsoon are likely to cause delay in beginning of the monsoon.

Monsoon in Nepal generally starts from June 10. He said that inactive low pressure areas over the Bay of Bengal are also contributing to the delay.

Paudel said that the effect of westerly winds from the western belt, formation of low pressure areas in the mid belt and water vapour-rich winds rising from the Bay of Bengal are attributed to the change in the weather pattern in Nepal.

Meanwhile, the MFD said that most of the parts of Nepal including Kathmandu valley would witness rainfall this evening.
