Rainfall-triggered landslide sweeps away house in Pokhara

POKHARA: A landslide triggered by incessant rainfall has swept away a house at Kaskikot of Pokhara Lekhnath Metropolis-24 at around midnight on Tuesday.

The metal-roofed house belonging to Dilli Ram Subedi was completely destroyed in the landslide following the downpour at around 1:00 am today, according to the Ward Secretary at Kalikot Narayan Adhikari.

The family living in the house evaded the scene in the meantime, so no human casualties were reported. However, Subedi sustained minor injuries.

The family members have been displaced and are staying in neighbour’s house after the incident, Adhikari said.

Properties worth around Rs 700, 000 including clothes, food, and furniture among others were completely destroyed in the disaster, Kaski District Police Office, informed.

Meanwhile, the landslide has also caved in part of 25-metre road section along the Pokhara-Baglung, confining to a one-way vehicular movement along the road in Annapurna Rural Municiplaity in Kaski district.
