Ramechhap jailbirds tie knot

Ramechhap, February 5

District Prison Ramechhap wore a different look early morning yesterday. Scores of new people, donning attractive attire, along with mediapersons and social activists of the district could be seen moving around on the prison premises.

The prison administration had arranged a wedding ceremony of two jailbirds namely Dinesh Chaulagain, 30, of Gunsi-3, Ramechhap; and 32-year-old Pramila Chaudhary of Birgunj-16, Parsa.

“As both of them had agreed to tie the knot after a love affair, the administration permitted them to marry,” prison Chief Uddhav Baral said, adding that he had arranged the necessary proceedings after consulting the authority. “This might be the first wedding of this type,” claimed Baral.

Dinesh had been doing time for the past six years on a murder charge whereas Chaudhary had been serving her time in the prison for the past eight years on the charge of drug smuggling.

Both of them have four more years to spend in the prison. Dinesh’s first wife had died whereas Chaudhary is a divorcee.
