BARDIYA: Police in Bardiya district reportedly arrested a person on charge of raping a teenaged girl from Rajapur Municipality almost a year after the crime.

The suspect has been identified as Mahesh Yadav (25) of Chaugurji in Gulariya Municipality-7.

A team of security personnel deployed from the District Police Office led by the Inspector Hem Bahadur Shahi arrested Yadav recently.

Yadav had allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl in a paddy field in the afternoon of 22 September last year, said police.

He was taken under control from a hideout at Shankar settlement of Rajapur Municipality-7 in the district.

Meanwhile, the investigation into the case is underway, said police.
