Mahato roots for statute amendment

Rajbiraj, August 19

Rastriya Janata Party-Nepal leader Rajendra Mahato today said that people would punish parties that would vote against the statute amendment bill in the Parliament.

Mahato, who came to inspect the flood-hit areas in Saptari’s Rajbiraj, made it clear that the demand for statute amendment was not of a particular party.

“This is the demand of all Madhesis, ethnic communities and backward people”, Mahato added. He reiterated that people would rise against the parties that vote against the amendment bill.

Mahato stated that the statute amendment process had created favourable environment for civic polls in Province 2.

He, however, said that his party was ready to handle the situation if the parties in the Parliament backtracked from the amendment.

The former minister also urged all the parties in the Parliament to cast votes for passage of the amendment bill.
