RPP merges with RPP-N

KATHMANDU: Two right-wing forces—Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP) and Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal (RPP-N) — formally announced their unification amid a special function at the Academy Hall on Monday.

The name of the unified party would be Rastriya Prajatantra Party (RPP).

Kamal Thapa would chair the new party and its Parliamentary Party while Pashupati Shumsher Jung Bahadur Rana would be the national Chairman.

Earlier on November 15, Thapa and Rana had signed an agreement to form a new party.

After the unification, the party has now become the fourth largest party in the Parliament.

The two leaders said that the unity would be a bid to safeguard democracy and to reinstate Nepal as a Hindu Kingdom.

The new party would adopt the flag of RPP-N.

The electoral symbol of the reformed party would be decided from the general convention, which is scheduled to be held within three months.
