Reservoir to be constructed in Rupandehi

BUTWAL: A reservoir will be constructed in Sainamaina of Rupandehi district in a bid to conserve Chure area, and promote water tourism, said the Sainamaina Municipality.

The construction process has started, and the project aims to provide irrigation facility and conserving Chure area, said Mayor Chitra Bahadur Karki of the municipality.

The construction site lies in the lap of Chure Mountain, and spread over 50 bighas of land, where 40 meters high embankment will be constructed, Mayor Karki added.

The project was proposed to the President Chure Terai Madhesh Conservation Development Board (PCTMCDB) by former Finance Minister Bishnu Poudel and Mayor Karki, and following this a technical team led by Chairperson of the PCTMCDB Birendra Yadav inspected the site, and identified the area as a suitable site to construct a reservoir.

"We have plans to build physical infrastructures for tourists, as well as fun-seekers, hotels, resorts, and operate boat service in the area," Karki further added.
