River in spate sweeps away house, leaving others at high risk

Puma Khola of Besisahar in Lamjung has reportedly swept away a house and put three others at high risk of landslide after incessant rainfall yesterday night.

The house that swept away by the flood belonged to Dal Bahadur Tamang. His wife Dhana Maya said that the flood also swept away all the goods from the store that was being operated from the house. Three other houses belonging to locals Dipak Shrestha, Padam Gurung and Dadi Bahadur Gurung are at high risk of landslide.

Locals said that the rising Puma Khola had also swept away several culverts and a bridge and destroyed land belonging to the locals.

Transportation service heading towards Manang via northern Lamjung has been suspended after the road was swept away along Manange Chautara and Satbise road section.

The drivers said that passengers and vehicles alike were stranded after the flood swept away the road this morning causing great inconvenience and frustration for those heading home for Dashain.

Meanwhile, Chief District Officer Mohan Bahadur GC and DSP Samir Chandra Kharel, among others, inspected the affected area.
