Kathmandu, November 24

Rastriya Prajatantra Party-Nepal today issued a Kathmandu-declaration following completion of its three-day meeting of the party’s Central Council urging the government to make diplomatic efforts to end the blockade on the Nepal-India border.

Stating that the unannounced blockade and ongoing Madhes agitation had crippled the life of people, RPP-N urged the government to address the concerns of Madhesi people in accordance with national interest, stated the 10-point declaration.

It also urged the agitating parties to find solution through talks and all parties to unite by rising above partisan interest. The RPP-N demanded that the government set up the reconstruction authority and accelerate the work of reconstruction at the earliest, according to the party’s joint spokesperson Mohan Shrestha.

It also urged the government to hold election of local bodies at the earliest and demanded that the government officially celebrate the birth anniversary of late king Prithvi Narayan Shah and announce a public holiday on that day.

Stating that the party was evolving as a nationalist democratic force, it added that RPP-N would forge working alliance with like-minded parties.
