Over Rs 500 m distributed to conflict victim families in Terhathum

TERHATHUM: More than Rs 500 million of relief support has been distributed to people and survivor families of 10-year armed conflict period in Terhathum district.

According to Terhathum Chief District Officer Ved Nidhi Khanal, the relief amount was distributed to 190 victims of the district on the recommendation of Local Peace Committee and District Administration Office.

Additional one million rupees was distributed to 78 survivor families.

As many as 71 people, nine police personnel and one civil servant were killed in the district during the armed conflict.

Out of 81 survivor families, only 78 families have come into contact, said Local Peace Committee Coordinator Dev Narayan Sambahamphe.

Similarly, one million rupees each was provided to two families of disappeared persons during the armed conflict.

Earlier, Rs 25,000 each was distributed to families of 111 persons, who were disappeared both the state-side and the then rebel side during the conflict period.
