Saptakoshi water level rises, 22 sluice gates at barrage opened

KATHMANDU: Water level in the Saptakoshi River has continued to increase due to incessant rainfall in eastern Nepal.

The water current in the mighty river was measured at 140,070 cusec at 6:15 on Tuesday evening, according to the District Police Office, Sunsari.

As the water level rose, 22 sluice gates of the Koshi barrage were opened at 6:00 pm.

The water flow was 126,230 cusec in the afternoon.

Locals around the Saptakoshi barrage are alarmed after the rise in water.
