Saptari's NC ward chair candidate robbed

RAJBIRAJ: Nepali Congress candidate Ananda Jha, who is contesting the upcoming third round of the local polls, has been robbed.

Unidentified persons allegedly broke into Jha's residence in Padariya locality of Rajbiraj Municipality-11 on Tuesday night during the Jitiya festival when all the family members were out to celebrate. The alleged robbers made their way into the house by breaking three locks at the front gate.

The robbers made off with Rs 100,000 in cash, 10 tolas of gold, one kilo silver and a mobile device of Apple Inc, District Police Office, Saptari said.

Saptari's Superintendent of Police (SP) Mukesh Kumar Singh said an extensive search is underway to find the robbers.

Jha is running for the post of ward chairman in the elections slated for September 18.
