CK Raut's remand extended by 10 days

LAHAN: The remand of Free Madhes Alliance Coordinator CK Raut has been extended by 10 more days for ongoing investigation on the charge of an organised crime against the state.

The Siraha District Court issued the order after demand for the same by the Lahan Area Police Office.

Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Raj Kumar KC, said the court order would facilitate the extension of Raut's custody and help in gathering more evidence against him.

During a mass meeting held in Lahan of Siraha on January 18, Raut had reportedly made a statement calling for splitting the Madhes region from Nepal and turning it into a separate country, following which the police had filed charges of organised crime against the state against him.

Rauta was arrested from Janakpur of Dhanusha district on Thursday.
