Shah elected parliamentary party leader of UML in Province 7

DHANGADHI: Lawmaker Prakash Bahadur Shah of Bajura has been elected the parliamentary party (PP) leader of CPN-UML in Province 7.

Shah was elected unopposed to the post after Dirgha Sodari of Kailali and Tara Lama Tamang of Kanchanpur had withdrawn their candidacies. Provincial assembly had given the responsibility to the party to finalise the PP leader after consulting with the aspirant candidates for the post.

Party procedure, lessons from other provinces, capability of the candidates, and party norms among others were the criteria suggested for the selection of the PP leader, according to provincial lawmaker Purna Joshi.

Shah was elected the PP leader by consensus on Saturday morning, as stated by the UML.

Shah, who was elected to the provincial assembly from Bajura’s constituency 2, is also the alternative central member of CPN-UML.
