Deuba in Delhi, meets Sushma Swaraj

KATHMANDU: Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba met Indian Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj in New Delhi on Thursday.

Deuba is on a week-long private trip to New Delhi for his wife and NC lawmaker Arzu Rana Deuba's health treatment. She is currently admitted to a hospital in Delhi. It has been learned that she successfully underwent a hip replacement surgery on Wednesday.

This is the first meeting between Deuba and Swaraj after he was elected to the post of party President.

In the meeting, Swaraj congratulated Deuba for his election and extended best wishes for the successful tenure. She also stated that India's cooperation to Nepal had been constant in its development and would be the same in the future as well.

Deuba's aide Bhanu Deuba had said that he would not hold any political meeting during his stay in the Indian capital.

The Deuba couple are scheduled to return home on Saturday.
