Sherpa scales Mt Manaslu with Visit Nepal 2020 message in nine days

KATHMANDU: A Sherpa climber has successfully climbed the world’s eighth highest peak appealing all stakeholders to make Visit Nepal 2020 a grand success.

According to the Ministry of Culture Tourism and Civil Aviation, Mingma Gyabu Sherpa, who is also an executive committee member of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, scaled Mt Manaslu in nine days placing a banner of Visit Nepal 2020 to the top of the peak yesterday.

Sherpa, who left for the 8,163-metre mountain from Kathmandu on September 21, arrived here today completing his mission in nine days, NMA Chairman Santa Bir Lama said. “I have climbed Mt Manaslu with a banner of Visit Nepal 2020 appealing all to come to Nepal for adventure tourism,” Sherpa reacted. Sherpa also thanked the government and NMA for supporting the noble cause.

Sherpa climbed Mount Elbrus (5,642 m), Europe’s highest peak, last month. He had also climbed Mt Everest and Mt Lhotse in the last spring season. He scaled the world’s second highest peak last month guiding a group of international expedition to Mt K2. He also made it to the summit of Broad Peak after returning from Mt K2 in Pakistan.

Sherpa, who took part in Breathless Race and Everest Marathon in the last spring season, plans to complete all the highest mountains of each of the seven continents as well as all 14 of the world’s 8000-metre peaks.
