Six held with 203 kg marijauna in Makawanpur

HETAUDA: Makawanpur Police have arrested six persons from separate places in the district with 203 kilograms of marijuana. The arrestees were made public today.

A  joint team of officials from Narcotics Control Bureau of Nepal and District Police Office, Makawanpur nabbed Padam Hamal Thakuri (58) of Udayapur, Suresh Kumar Mahato (35) and Chedi Das (44) of Siraha, and Krishna Bahadur Moktan (42) of Makawanpur with 88.7 kg of marijuana from Manahari, Makawanpur on Wednesday.

According to police, the arrestees were smuggling the contraband to India in a Bolero jeep with Indian registration. Hamal was an active drug trader while the jeep driver Chedi Das was held for the second time while transporting marijuana, Superintendent of Police Budhhi Raj Gurung informed.

Likewise, Makawanpur police on Thursday arrested Dinesh Magar (36) of Sindhuli and Gyan Bahadur Budashaili (31) of Sindhupalchok in possession of 115 kg of marijuana from Hetauda.

The arrestees were hauling the drug in an automobile with a false ceiling.

According to DPO, the arrestees are charged under the Narcotic Drugs Control Act.
