Six injured in clash between two groups

At least six persons were injured in a clash between two local groups during a meeting held to find a permanent solution to a problem related to road construction in Hardiya of Brindaban Municipality- 4, Rautahat, yesterday night.

As many as 13 two-wheelers were vandalised in the incident.

Police have arrested Nagendra Yadav, Lalbabu Yadav and Dharmendra Yadav for their alleged involvement in the clash. Clash erupted when the meeting was under way to deliberate on opening the passage for a new road through the land owned by Sonlal Sah, police said.

Birendra Ray Yadav, Suresh Prasad Yadav, Subitadevi Yadav, Ram Narayan Yadav, Fulwati Devi Yadav and land owner sonlala were injured in the incident. The injured are being treated at different hospitals and health facilities in Birgunj and Rautahat.

Locals accused that the group, including Ward No 4 chair Shyamnandan Ray Yadav, had attacked and thrashed the locals at the meeting. The victims said that they were beaten with sticks and bricks when they were attending the meeting called by the ward chair.

According to District Police Office Rautahat, a discussion was on among 150 people in the presence of ward chair Yadav. Reinforcement was sent to take people under control after the brawl broke out.

The vandalised motorbikes are kept at Area Police Office, Garuda. The arrested were freed after an agreement between the two sides, according to inspector Chaturbhuj Ojha.
