Solar powered pumps for Baniyani farmers

Paddy Super Zone Project operating in Baniyani, Jhapa, has introduced solar powered irrigation pumps for the farmers of rural areas.

Solar powered pumps will help draw underground water for irrigation in rural areas. Total cost for a bore well and installation of solar powered pump comes around five lakh rupees. The project will bear 85pc cost for the installation of irrigation pumps while an individual has to bear 15pc.

Chairman Nawaraj Bhattarai of Super Zone Operation Committee said the solar powered pumps were brought among the farmers to help them get rid of irrigation woes. He said solar powered pumps were distributed to five farmers involved in the project. It is said that the project had been promoting the professional farming using different technologies.
