Suu Kyi, Hun Sen arriving tomorrow

Kathmandu, November 27

Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen and Myanmar State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs Aung San Suu Kyi will pay an official goodwill visit to Nepal from November 29 to 30 at the invitation of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.

During the visit, Hun Sen and Suu Kyi will pay a courtesy call on President Bidhya Devi Bhandari and hold official talks with Oli on matters of mutual interest. Minister of Foreign Affairs Pradeep Gyawali will also call on the two leaders, according to a press release issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While Suu Kyi’s Nepal visit will be the first by the state counsellor of Myanmar, Hun Sen’s visit will be the first by any Cambodian prime minister.

The two leaders will also attend ‘The Asia Pacific Summit 2018 — Nepal’ to be held in Kathmandu from November 30 to December 3, according to the event’s organiser Universal Peace Federation Nepal Chair Eknath Dhakal.

The event will bring together delegates from the Asia Pacific region and other parts of the world, including current and former heads of state and government, speakers of parliaments, parliamentarians, leaders from the world’s great religions, traditional rulers, women leaders and representatives of the media, academia, business, arts and civil society.
