Textbooks crisis in Myagdi

MYAGDI: Despite two months after the beginning of new academic session, students of some schools in Myagdi district are yet to get the textbooks.

The students in most of the community schools in Myagdi have been deprived of the textbooks due to delay in printing, transportation and distribution.

District Education Officer Dilip Kumar Thakur said that textbooks publication and distribution jobs were affected as almost all sectors were disturbed due to deadly earthquake occurred on April 25.

Thakur, however, said that efforts are underway to supply the textbooks prior to beginning of the summer vacation.

It is learnt that nearly 50 per cent of the eighth graders do not have the textbooks in the district while books of some optional subjects of grade 9 and 10 have not been supplied from the Janak Education Material Centre.

The teaching learning activities of grade eight were affected due to lack of the textbooks as the entire curriculum of the grade eight was changed from this academic session.
