Thapa urges parties to resolve Tarai unrest with spirit of national unity

Kathmandu, November 26

Coordinator of Foreign Department of Rastriya Prajatantra Party Sunil Bahadur Thapa today issued a press release urging all stakeholders to find a solution to the Tarai unrest and other economic and social problems with the spirit of unity and collaboration.

Stating that national politics was witnessing unprecedented and unnatural polarisation, Thapa said doubts were being raised that such polarisation could spell doom for the nascent democracy.

He said the RPP should also carve out its space in the face of such unprecedented polarisation and the party needed to play a role in formation of a broader democratic alliance, which the party has been talking about for some time.

Thapa drew the party’s attention to the need to form its views on the adverse impacts of the ongoing Tarai agitation and obstruction on commerce.

Thapa said the stakeholders’ failure to address the grievances of agitating forces in the Madhes, who began their protest mainly against provincial boundaries, had put a question mark on the nation, nationalism, national unity, independence and territorial integrity.
