INARUWA: The Area Police Office, Itahari has arrested three persons on the charge of raping a woman, on Tuesday.

Police said that a group of five men had raped the woman near Sathi Petrol Pump on the Itahari-Dharan-Biratnagar road section in Itahari at midnight on Monday.

It has been found that the woman who was travelling from Dharan on the bus (Ko 1 Kha 4626) was raped by the five men.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Binod Sharma of Sunsari Police, the arrestees have been identified as the bus driver Bikas Kasai of Sundar Haraincha-12, Suraj Thapa of Surunga-4, Jhapa, and Sujendra Bhujel of Siraha. Meanwhile, Nitesh Ghimire and Suman alias Take of Belbari in Morang who were involved in the rape are at large.

The locals had informed the police about the incident following which police apprehended the culprits.
