THT IMPACT: Campaigns launched to support Bajura kids

KATHMANDU: Various campaigns have been launched in Nepal and abroad to garner support for Bajura kids after their plight was published in the Himalayan Times.

The kids have been living ordeal-filled lives at Mana village in Badimalika Municipality-5 of Bajura district since their father died of cancer and mother eloped with another man three years ago.

Isha Gurung, a social activist from Pokhara currently residing in the United Kingdom, launched a campaign and collected Rs 201,000 in funds for the kids. She said, "The campaign to collect funds for the kids is still ongoing."

Earlier, the locals and relatives supported the kids for a while but now the kids are living an arduous life in the village, according to Badimalika Municipality-5 ward chair Bal Bahadur Rokaya.

Diksha Chapaigain of Pabitra Sewa Samaj has informed Bajura District Administration Office to extend their support to kids for their care and education.

Similarly, SOS Children's Villages Nepal said they would travel to Bajura and take stock of the children's situation and provide necessary support to them.

Likewise, Badimalika Municipality deputy mayor Kabita Bista extended Rs 10,000 in support of the kids.

Leader Ram Kumari Jhakri said, "I will extend necessary support to the kids after understanding their situation."

Bajura District Chief Officer Chet Raj Baral shared that various organisations have shown interest to lend their hands in support of the kids.
