Tikapur probe

DHANGADI: Kailali police have been using modern technology in the investigation of the deadly August 24 Tikapur clash.

According to Far-west Regional Police Office Dipayal Chief DIG Madhav Nepal, use of the modern technology is meant to make the investigation more effective.

“We would have used the usual way of investigation, however, the information technology is expected to make the investigation process more scientific and effective,” said DIG Nepal.

Unlike earlier investigations, police have entrusted seasoned officers with the investigation this time around. Police have so far detained 21 persons in connection with the Tikapur incident. “They have been detained for investigation and we have made sure their basic human rights are not violated in police custody,” he said. He conceded that lapses in security management had caused the Tikapur tragedy.
