Rasuwa's Timure landslide claims eight lives

RASUWA: Eight people have died and one other is missing in a landslide that took place on Wednesday night at Timure in Gosaikunda Rural Municipality-2.

One concrete house, three hotels and four vehicles were buried in the landslide, according to the eyewitnesses.

Likewise, 12 persons sustained injuries in the incident.

According to Deputy Superintendent of Police, Santosh Tamang, five out of the total injured were treated at a local treatment centre and then flown to Kathmandu for further treatment.

Because of the calamity, the Syafru-Rasuwagadhi section of the highway remains obstructed. A temporary police post at Timure was also buried in the mudslide. Disruption in power and communications services as a result of the landslide has halted day-to-day work at the customs office, according to Chief Customs Officer Gopal Koirala.
