GAUSHALA: A two-year-old boy was killed and his mother seriously injured when a tractor hit them in Loharpatti Municipality in Mahottari district Tuesday night.

The deceased has been identified as Aayush Yadav, son of  injured Urmila Yadav, local residents of Bagara in Loharpatti Municipality-1 of the district.

The incident took place as the tractor (Ja 1 Ta 9173) en route from Loharpatti Bazaar to Janakpur hit the mother and son duo at 7:00 pm yesterday while they were crossing the road in front of their house at Bagara, killing the toddler on the spot and injuring mother, informed police.

The critically injured mother was rushed to Janakpur Zonal Hospital, where she is undergoing treatment, informed Superintendent of Police Kuber Kadayet at the District Police Office, Mahottari.

Meanwhile, police have impounded the tractor and detained its driver for further investigation.
