Torrential rainfall affects search, rescue operation in Myagdi

MYAGDI: Search and rescue operation for those missing in landslides at Mudi VDC in Myagdi district from Wednesday night has been affected. A total of five people have gone missing in the landslides.

Lokraj Roka, a local said that the rescue operation was affected due to unfavourable climate. He lamented that the state did not carry out search and rescue operation in an effective manner at a time the remote settlement faced such a great disaster.

It has been learnt that the search and rescue operation could not be carried out property owing to torrential rainfall.

Deepraj Giri, police Constable at the Muna Takam Police Post said that Krishnalal Pun and Husta Pun of Mudi-2, Kalo Gharti and Jit Bahadur Gharti of Mudi-1 and Bhim Bahadur Gharti of Mudi-3 are missing in the landslides.

Locals, local youth clubs and police personnel have been carrying out search operation.
