Tourist numbers up at CNP

The number of tourists visiting Chitwan National Park has increased in the past few years, said Chitwan National Park officials.

According to assistant conservation officer and information officer Nurendra Aryal, a total of 152,671 tourists visited the national park last fiscal while the number was 139,978 the previous fiscal. Similarly, only 87,391 tourists visited the national park in the fiscal 2015-16. Data shows that the number of tourists visiting the national park is increasing every year.

The records with Chitwan National Park show that a total of 34,050 Nepali nationals visited the park in the fiscal 2017-18 while 19,696 tourists were from SAARC member countries and the remaining 98,925 tourists represented other countries.

The number of Nepalis visiting the national park was 36,053 in the fiscal 2016-17 while 15,906 were from SAARC countries and remaining 88,019 were from other countries. Likewise, a total of 30,592 Nepali nationals, 6,606 from SAARC member countries and 50,193 tourists from other countries visited the park in the fiscal 2015-16.

Chitwan National Park collected Rs 248 million in revenue under various topics in the fiscal 2017-18 while it was Rs 225 million in the fiscal 2016-17 and Rs 131 million in 2015-16.
