BHOJPUR: At least two persons were critically injured when a tractor hit them in the headquarters of Bhojpur district on Saturday morning.

The injured have been identified as Laxmi Khanal (52) and Chitra Devi Bhattarai (45) of Amtek VDC-7 in the district.

According to the District Police Office, the tractor (Ko 2 Ta 2795), which was ascending an inclined road, slipped over in reverse and hit pedestrians Khanal and Bhattarai near local Charbhanjyang Chok.

The duo were going to a bi-weekly market camp "hatiya" in the locality.

Meanwhile, the critically injured duo are undergoing treatment at the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) after the District Hospital referred them to the former, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Kaji Kumar Acharya informed.

Police have also detained the driver and owner of the vehicle, Ganesh Gajamer of Kerabari-9 in Morang district, for further investigation.
