DHADING: Theft of electric transformers has increased in Dhading district of late.

A transformer worth Rs 1 million was recently stolen from a private crusher industry at Parewatar of Kumpur VDC in the district.

The unidentified thieves extracted copper wire before disposing it in open at night time.

Police have expressed surprise at the incident as the thieves apparently disconnected the transformer from power transmission line safely.

Gajuri-based Area Police Office said they are looking into the case.

Thieves have been targeting local crusher industries that have shut down.
