URLABARI, MORANG: Two people died in separate accidents in Morang last night.

Ashok Rajbanshi (27) of Gramthan Rural Municipality-2 who was severely injured after his motorcycle ( Ko 7 Pa 903) collided head-on with a bus ( Ko 1 Kha 4842) along the Biratnagar-Biratchowk road section breathed his last in course of treatment at the Birat Nursing Home, police confirmed.

Bishwa Rajbanshi (26) of the same locality, pillion rider of the ill-fated motorcycle at the time, was critically hurt in the accident and has been admitted to the same health facility. Following the accident, police have arrested the bus driver and impounded the vehicle.

Similarly, a pedestrian was killed after being rammed by a Scorpio jeep ( Ko 1 Cha 5655) at Belbari-3 along the East-West Highway.

The deceased has been identified as Lakhan Mallik (65) of Belbari-1.

Following the accident, he was rushed to the Dharan-based BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences where he succumbed to injuries during the course of treatment, according to the police.

The driver is under the police control along with the four-wheeler, Police Inspector Ramji Katuwal at the Belbari-based Area Police Office said.
