PANCHTHAR: Two persons were killed on the spot in a tipper accident which occurred at Hilihang Rural Municipality of Panchthar district along the under-construction mid-hilly highway.

The deceased have been identified as the driver of the vehicle, Binod Tamang of Dhading district, and labourer Bhim Tamang of Hilihang-2.

The incident occurred when the tipper (Ba 2 Ka 2920), which was being used in construction works of the highway, fell about 100 metres below the road near Hawaldar Chok in Hilihang-4, around 8:00 pm Tuesday. According to District Police Office, Panchthar, the tipper caught fire after hitting a rock when it fell.

The bodies of the deceased have been taken to Panchthar Hospital for post mortem and further investigation into the incident is underway, said police.
