Two persons killed in separate road accidents in Rautahat

RAUTAHAT: Two persons were reportedly killed in separate road accidents in Rautahat district on Thursday.

A pedestrian died after he was hit by a pick-up van in Garuda Municipality along the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section in the district, informed police.

The deceased has been identified as local Shyam Sundar Sah (50) of Garuda Municipality-4.

The incident occurred when the van (Na 3 Cha 4434) hit Sah critically injuring him at Methur Chok yesterday evening, according to the Garuda-based Area Police Office.

Critically injured Sah was rushed to a local health facility and later was referred to the Hetauda-based Churehill Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries during the course of treatment last night, informed the APO.

Meanwhile, the APO has impounded the vehicle and detained its driver for further investigation, said police.

Similarly, a person died on the spot after a motorcycle he was riding on met with an accident, in Rautahat yesterday.

The deceased has been identified as Sheikh Sheraz (25) of Paroha Municipality-2 in the district.

The motorcycle went out of control while Sheraz was riding the India registered motorcycle (BR F 0586) alongĀ  the Gaur-Chandranigahapur road section between Jaynagar and Sakhuwa chok, according to Police Inspector Govind Thapa.

Meanwhile, further investigation into both incidents are underway, said police.
