UDMF cadres torch bike at Indo-Nepal border

RAUTAHAT: Cadres of the agitating United Democratic Madhesi Front on Saturday torched a motorbike at the Indo-Nepal border point in Gaur of Rautahat district.

The two-wheeler (Na 25 Pa 5738) owned by Shyam Babu Prasad Sah, a resident of Bishrampur-6 of Rautahat district, was set ablaze at the Miteri bridge connecting Gaur of Rautahat and Bairgania of Sitamarhi district on the Indian side.

Sah was returning from an Indian market after buying rice grains and kitchen utensils for a wedding party of his sister.

But, around 10-15 UDMF cadres, who were demonstrating at the no man's land, torched the bike, he informed police.

The attackers had fled the scene after police personnel reached the site.

DSP Rajendra Pokharel said the bike was completely destroyed in the attack.

Meanwhile, infuriated locals seized and destroyed tents of the protesters following the incident.
